Currently reading 'The Wesley Code' by James Stuart, I find these passages encouraging:
'In Jesus Christ, Wesley argued, God did for humanity what it couldn't do for itself. “Not one child of man, loses thereby, unless by his own choice; and everyone who receives the grace of God in Christ, will be an unspeakable gainer.”
...Love he called, “the medicine of life, the never-failing remedy for all the evils of a disordered world”
… the mark of a true Christian was love, love of neighbor, a universal love not confined to one sect or party, “Away with opinions” he wrote, for in the end, “the internal evidence,” that is, love of God and love of neighbour is always “the strongest evidence of the truth of Christianity.”
